Hey Everyone!
As you guys know, the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018, concluded about a month ago at St. Regis Hotel, Mumbai. And as always, I was amazed at the kind of fashion, styling and creativity that was showcased… not just on the ramp, but off the ramp as well!!
And while I know I’m super-late in sharing this post with you all, I really hope you enjoy reading it because there are some really amazing designers, styles and shopping services I tried out this time! 🙂
If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that this time, I couldn’t attend all the 5 days of LFW. However, I did manage to attend the first 3 days! The reason why I couldn’t attend day 4, was because on that very day, I walked for Shein India’s first ever fashion show in India, at 4 seasons hotel. (Oh yes, lil ol’ me walked the ramp for the very first time :D). And on Day 5, I was traveling to my native place in the North of India to meet my grandma!
However, as always, I’m going to give you guys a quick look at the looks that I created for myself for day 1, 2 and 3 at Lakme Fashion Week, and in my next post, shall give you a glimpse of Shein Fashion Show. 😀
Day 1:
On day 1, I was styled by Pret Pick, from head to toe! Frankly, it’s the first time I let someone else style me… and that too, a virtual styling service… and I was so so impressed! Pret Pick is this virtual shopping plus styling assistant. So I basically logged in to www.pretpick.com and took their style quiz. According to my answers, they sent me this amazingly well, and interestingly curated box with everything from head to toe (from different brands), along with style cards with ideas on how to style the look.
The best part is, that the service is free of cost. You can try out the items in the box and buy and pay only for the ones you like. The rest, they will collect back. Absolutely brilliant idea!
I loved the box they sent me so much, that I wore everything they sent me!
Outfit / Box Details:
Orange distressed jacket: Trendyol
Sheer Skirt: Pret Pick
Handmade necklace / accessory: Akanke
Black bodysuit: Zara
Black mules / footwear: Label Life
Bag: Gucci, Ophidia Chestnut Suede Cross Body Bag (My own)
Jeans: H&M (My Own)
Day 2:
Day 2 was one of my weird experiments on a saree (which thankfully paid off very well J)! It’s a handloom saree from Jaypore, which I draped like a skirt / lehenga, over a pair of denim shorts. Since day 2 is Sustainable fashion day at Lakme Fashion Week, a handloom kalamkari saree in natural dyes, seemed like the perfect option! However, I wanted to also wear this gorgeous handmade necklace from Anki Bunki by Aditi, a lovely designer based out of Kolkata, who creates extremely quirky and unique pieces of art.
So, to make sure that the necklace takes the center-stage, I invented this drape, keeping the saree to the bottom only and paired it with a pristine white formal shirt and sneakers!
Outfit Details:
Necklace: Anki Bunki by Aditi
Statement Ring: Artfully Yours by Chitranka
Kalamkari Saree: Jaypore
White Shirt: H&M
Denim shorts: An old pair I’ve been wearing for 7yrs
Sneakers: Timberland
This look got featured on the Forbes India Instagram and on Voice of Fashion
Day 3:
This was my personal favorite look because it is something that’s beautiful, sustainable and very, very wearable for everyone!
The jacket I’m wearing here, is from Ek Katha, a truly sustainable clothing label which only works with organic cotton and believes in a zero-waste policy. This jacket is made of organic Kala Cotton, which is airy, skin-friendly and breezy and uses waste fabrics from their previous collections to create a gorgeous patchwork for an upcycled, quirky look.
I paired it with a plain white dress, Olive green leather boots and a statement coin necklace which I once found at an artisans Exhibition at Coomarswamy Hall at the Prince of Whales Museum, Mumbai.
Hairstyle is courtesy of the Tresemme Runway Lounge at Lakme Fashion Week.
Outfit Details:
Jacket: Ek katha
Dress: Vero Moda
Necklace: A Karnataka based artisan
Footwear: A gift from a friend
Shein Fashion Show:
As I said, on 25th Aug, 2018… I walked the ramp for the first ever fashion show of Shein India, and here are a few snippets from it! 😀
