Hey Guys! If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’d have seen that last week I went for a major pamper session to So Spa by L’occitane at Sofitel Mumbai BKC. I took the Shea nurturing massage, and it was seriously such a fabulous experience!
I’ve been doing a H.I.I.T workout routine off-late, which, to be honest, I haven’t been very regular with L… but whatever little I do, makes my body really sore! Like… last week, I was pretty much waking up with a body ache almost every day! So, this full body massage was something that I was really looking forward to! So, here’s a quick recount of my experience…
As I reached the 3rd floor of Sofitel Mumbai BKC, and made my way to So Spa, I could feel the relaxed vibe and aroma fill the air. Once inside, they made me fill up a form which was a general record of any allergies, problems and preferences.
The Facility:
The interiors of the spa are absolutely mind-blowing and exude luxury! The grand centerpiece is called the ‘Golden Drops of Luxury’ and it’s a large art installation with delicate glass bulbs, shaped like water droplets cascading down from the ceiling. It’s quite a stunning sight!
The private therapy rooms and massage beds by themselves are spacious, with a large bathroom built keeping in mind absolute client comfort. In fact, apart from the single bed therapy rooms, they also have a couple’s therapy room with an attached Jacuzzi and a massage suite.
The only bit of loss I felt was in the fact that the ‘steam room’ wasn’t attached with every room and was in fact on the floor above. But when I was told the reason as to why they decided to have it that way, it was totally justified! Apparently, the steam room would make a loud sound (which we all know of) and that would disturb and take away from the peaceful aura and relaxing experience of other guests. Hence, keeping client comfort in mind and to maintain the calming experience, they decided not to have the steam room on the same floor itself!
In fact, they took me to the facility on the floor above and I was amazed at the massive Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna that they had!
The Massage Therapy:
Like I mentioned, I opted for the Shea nurturing massage, for which they used the shea butter body lotion from L’occitane mixed with slightly warm Aromachologie massage oil, also from L’occitane. L’occitane has 100% natural, certified organic shea butter, which is made by the women in the village, Burkia Faso in West Africa, and is of the finest quality. This lotion that they used, deeply nourishes and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and smooth!
It was like the perfect 60 mins of pampering, from head to toe, after which I felt so relaxed, that I felt like I was literally floating mid-air!
Next, I’m looking forward to trying out So Spa’s diamond facial which I’ve heard so much about, for which they use products from the high-end French brand Gemology, that uses real precious stone dust, which gives an insane glow to your skin!
So, if you’re in Mumbai and are looking for a good pamper session, head over to So Spa at Sofitel at any time of the day or night! After all, they’re one of the only spas in Mumbai open everyday, 24hrs! 🙂
